Simi Lutheran Drops Pace, Loses, 71-52

Simi Lutheran High fell behind early to Rosamond in a second-round Southern Section basketball game Tuesday night and never recovered, losing to the Roadrunners, 71-52.
Simi Lutheran, which trailed, 41-9, at halftime, was led by Jonathan Doering’s 25 points. The 6-1 senior also had 19 rebounds. The only other Baron to score in double figures was senior guard Bernardo Sanchez, who had 13. Junior forward Ara Deukmedjian added 7 points and 14 rebounds.
Following a 6-0 surge at the beginning of the fourth period, Simi Lutheran (13-9) pulled to within 13 points with six minutes left, and played even for the next four.
