Simi Valley 4, Hawthorne 2--Mike Lovegren scored two goals for Simi Valley in the Pioneers’ second-round win at Hawthorne.
The Pioneers, top-ranked in the 4-A division, will play Upland--a 3-2 winner Tuesday over Edison--in the quarterfinals on Friday.
Ricky Acuna and Robert Harris also scored goals for Simi Valley.
Girls Soccer
Arcadia 2, Alemany 1--Alemany’s Shannon Lambert tied the game at 1-1 late in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to hold off fourth ranked Arcadia.
Alemany, the Golden League champion, finished 18-4-1.
Royal 2, Long Beach Wilson 1--Freshman center-foward Sheri Smith scored on a penalty kick in sudden-death overtime to give the Highlanders the win at Wilson.
Royal plays Bishop Montgomery--a 3-2 winner over Esperanza Tuesday--in the quarterfinals on Friday.
