Paramount : Video Child Identification

In an attempt to make identification of children easier in an emergency, families can have videotapes of their youngsters made Saturday through the city’s Child-Safe video program.
Volunteers from the Paramount Neighborhood Watch will make videotapes of youths from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Progress Plaza Park, 15500 Downey Ave., said Bob Robinson, city public safety administrator.
City video camera equipment will be used to make two-minute tapes, which will include interviews with the children. Fingerprints will also be taken. The youths will be asked a series of questions which could be used to assist in identification, Robinson said.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
The service is free to families who bring a VHS videotape tape. Tapes may also be purchased at the time of taping from the city for $4. The city purchased 100 tapes at $4 each, Robinson said.
