4 Young Women Hurt in Crash on Slippery Curve in Seal Beach

A traffic collision on a rain-slicked curve in Seal Beach sent four young women to area hospitals Saturday evening, fire and police officials said.
According to an Orange County Fire Department spokesman, a Ford Mustang driven by Lisa Sorenson, 22, of Seal Beach, was traveling westbound on Lampson Avenue, between Heather Street and Candleberry Avenue. Sorenson’s car crossed into the median strip, knocking down a small tree and some shrubbery, before entering the eastbound lane of Lampson, where it collided head-on with a Toyota pickup truck.
Orange County fire, rescue and medical units, assisted by the Garden Grove Fire Department, closed the eastbound lanes of Lampson to traffic and used the “jaws of life” to remove Sorenson from her car. She was transported to Fountain Valley Trauma Center, where she was reported in fair condition late Saturday.
The occupants of the pickup, Meghan Fife, 14; Lori Halal, 14; and her sister, Jennie Halal, 22, were taken to area hospitals. All three are residents of Seal Beach.
Fife was reported in stable condition at Los Alamitos Medical Center.
The Halal sisters were taken to Long Beach Medical Center. Both had serious injuries, according to a fire rescue officer, Steve King. However, officials at the hospital declined to say whether the women had been admitted or what their condition was.
