WASHINGTON — Vice President George Bush will travel to the Persian Gulf region next month “to demonstrate U.S. interest in the security of the area,” White House spokesman Larry Speakes announced today. Bush will travel to Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman and North Yemen from April 3 to 12, Speakes said.
The spokesman said Bush has been invited to visit those countries to consult with their leaders on such matters as the implications of the Iran-Iraq war and the recent troubles in South Yemen.
