‘MRS. CALIFORNIA’ SET FOR CORONET

“Mrs. California,” the Doris Baizley play inspired by the 1955 Mrs. California contest, has been set to open April 20 at the Coronet Theatre. Previews begin April 10.
Presenters are Peg Yorkin’s L.A. Public Theatre, Susan Dietz’s L.A. Stage Co. and the Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum, whose November production of the piece (as part of its New Theatre for Now), will be re-created.
Warner Shook, who staged the original, will again direct the original cast: Fred Applegate, Frances Conroy, Gregory Itzin, Susan Krebs, Sharon Madden, Deborah May and Jean Smart.
