Christy Campbell Walters, director of the state Department of Commerce, will speak at a luncheon Tuesday following ground breaking of the Jurupa distribution center to be built in Ontario.
The $21-million project at Jurupa Street and West Vintage Avenue is being built by Saffell & McAdam Inc., of Irvine. The center will have three one-story industrial buildings totaling 660,000 square feet and is scheduled to be completed in September.
The project is owned by A. J. Lane & Co. and developed by Franklin Investment Group Ltd. of Boston. The land was purchased by Franklin from the Santa Fe Pacific Realty Corp.
According to Edward J. King, former Massachusetts governor and chairman of A. J. Lane, the distribution center is the debut development in California of Lane and Franklin.
The project was designed by Architects Orange of the city of Orange. Each building will feature a combination of painted and sandblasted concrete tilt-up panels, with painted accent bands and solar gray reflective glass framing the entryways.
