Rocket Fired From Lebanon Into Israel

TEL AVIV — A Katyusha rocket fired from Lebanon landed in northern Israel early Tuesday but did not cause any casualties, Israeli military sources said.
Residents of the northern Galilee region heard several powerful blasts early Tuesday morning, but soldiers searching the region found the remnants of only one 107-millimeter rocket, the sources said.
In southern Lebanon, a Shia Muslim guerrilla commander said his men fired 20 Soviet-made Katyushas into Israel at daybreak to avenge Monday’s shelling of the Shia market town of Nabatiyeh. The shelling, which killed three people and wounded 24, was reportedly came from gunners of the Israeli-supported South Lebanon Army, a Christian-led militia.
