Drexler Leads Trail Blazers Past Clippers

PORTLAND, Ore. — Clyde Drexler scored 26 points Thursday night to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to a 115-100 victory over the Clippers.
The Blazers, who have qualified for the Western Conference playoffs, improved their record to 39-41. The Clippers, who failed to qualify for postseason play, are 31-49. Both teams have two games remaining.
After trailing briefly in the first period, Portland pulled away for good in the second quarter paced by 12 points from Drexler.
Kiki Vandeweghe added 18 points for the Blazers and Kenny Carr 15. Carr also had 11 rebounds.
The Clippers were led by Marques Johnson, who scored 24 points. Michael Cage had 22 and Kurt Nimphius 20. Cage also had a game-high 14 rebounds as the Clippers outrebounded Portland, 48-44.
Los Angeles committed 27 turnovers, which led to 34 Portland points.
