One man was killed and another was critically injured in a shooting at a home on Wednesday night.
Police said a resident of Butters Road called them at 8:14 to report that he had shot two intruders, Lt. Jim Hawks said.
Police responding to the call found a man in the garage who had been shot to death. A second man with gunshot wounds to the head was found in the kitchen, Hawks said.
The wounded man was taken by Life Flight helicopter to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, where he was listed in critical condition and undergoing surgery late Wednesday night, a spokeswoman said.
The identities of the men were not immediatedly known. The case was under investigation.
