San Luis Obispo Defeats Chapman in Tennis Final

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo defeated defending champion Chapman College, 5-4, on Wednesday to win the NCAA Division II championship in men’s team tennis competition at Cal State Northridge.
The individual portion of the competition begins today at 8 a.m. at Northridge with the start of singles play. The doubles competition begins at 1:30 p.m.
Cal State Northridge, which failed to qualify, will be represented by Nicholas Renard in the individual competition. Renard faces Benji Aguirre of UC Davis today at 9 a.m. in the opening round.
In Wednesday’s team competition, UC Davis defeated Hampton Institute of Virginia, 5-4, in the third-place match, Stephen F. Austin, Tex., defeated Collins College, Fla., 5-3.
