College World Series : Miami Knocks Off Arizona, Staves Off Elimination, 4-2

OMAHA — Kevin Ryan and Rick Raether combined for a five-hitter as defending champion Miami stayed alive by handing Arizona its first defeat in the College World Series, 4-2, Saturday night.
The victory sent the third-ranked Hurricanes (50-16) into today’s semifinal game against top-ranked Florida State (60-12). The winner of that contest will meet Arizona (48-19) in the championship game Monday night.
Ryan (3-1) scattered four hits through eight innings, his longest outing of the year, and Raether picked up his 17th save. Arizona starter David Carley (5-3) took the loss.
Florida State defeated Oklahoma State, 6-5, Saturday afternoon as Luis Alicea raced home on Eric Mangham’s sacrifice fly to center field in the eighth inning. Oklahoma State, which led, 5-0, after two innings, finished its season with a 56-15 record.
Florida State beat Miami, 7-2, Tuesday night in their first College World Series meeting. The two teams split six regular-season games.
