Christian Wins Speedway Event

Alan Christian of Huntington Beach won the four-lap Freedom Cup main event of the weekly speedway motorcycle racing program Friday night in front of 1,026 at the Orange County Fairgrounds.
Christian defeated Mike Faria of Colton, Steve Lucero of Riverside and Brad Oxley of San Clemente.
The quartet advanced to the main event by accumulating more points than the 12 other riders in the five four-lap preliminary races.
In the preliminaries, Christian had 14 points, Faria and Lucero 13 each and Oxley 12.
