The mayor is requesting state assistance via low-interest loans for victims of the July 3 fire at the Casa de Valencia apartments.
In a letter to the Office of Emergency Services in Sacramento, Mayor Donald R. Roth asks for assistance in aiding the fire victims, many of whom lost all their belongings during the blaze which caused some $2.2 million in damage and left dozens of families homeless.
“Personal property dollar loss was reported at $375,600 and it was discovered that few had any insurance coverage,” Roth wrote.
The City Council is scheduled Tuesday to authorize the mayor to send the letter, as required in the application process for the loans.
