Compton : College Enrollment Rises
Enrollment at Compton Community College continues to increase during the 1985-86 academic year as a further sign that the two-year school has recovered from previous declines that left administrators discouraged and operating budgets strapped.
College officials announced that 1,978 students signed up for summer classes, 123 more than last year despite a shortened enrollment period. The 6.6% increase comes on the heels of a 17.2% rise in spring session enrollment compared to last year’s student turnout. The increases, which correspondingly raise the amount of money that the college can get from the state, come as Edison O. Jackson nears the end of his first year as president.
