AirCal said that revenue passenger miles in September rose 35% to 194.2 million from 144 million a year earlier. A revenue passenger mile is the equivalent of one paying passenger being flown one mile. Load factor, or the percentage of available seats actually occupied, increased slightly to 51.4% from 50.5% a year earlier.
For the first nine months of 1986, the Newport Beach-based regional airline said revenue passenger miles increased 18% to 1.62 billion from 1.37 billion a year earlier. Load factor, however, fell to 54.2% from 57.3%.
