Anaheim : 2,500 Angels Fans Wait For World Series Tickets

About 2,500 California Angels fans, undaunted by an 11th-inning, 7-6 defeat at the hands of the Boston Red Sox Sunday, camped out in Anaheim Stadium’s parking lot and waited as long as 15 hours to obtain wristbands that might get them tickets to the World Series.

The next step, of course, is a victory over the Red Sox this week in Boston. The Angels lead the best-of-seven American League championship playoff series 3 to 2, and play will resume at 5:25 p.m. today.

“We’ll give out about 8,000 (wristbands),” said Bob Albert, who handed out leaflets to those in line explaining the system. “There is no guarantee that the wristbands will equal tickets. The numbers will be called Wednesday morning, and each person will have the right to purchase four tickets per day (for each of three World Series games that would be played in Anaheim) for a maximum of 12.”

By 5 p.m. Monday, about 6,000 had been distributed.
