A man who answered a knock on his front door was shot and killed by a gunman who robbed the victim’s girlfriend and fled, Los Angeles police said. James Crayton, 40, was shot after struggling with the intruder at his home in the 4400 block of Don Ricardo Drive in Baldwin Hills. The gunman fled after robbing Debra Jacobs, 26, of about $130, officers said. Jacobs was not injured.
