El Toro Remains No. 1; Edison Falls to No. 5

El Toro High School, averaging 28.2 points and allowing only 9 points per game, earned all eight first-place votes to remain the top-ranked team in the Orange County Sportswriters’ Assn. prep football poll.
The Chargers (5-0) open play in the South Coast League against San Clemente on Friday night. Edison, ranked second last week, fell to fifth after a 21-7 loss to Santa Monica. Saddleback (5-0) moved into second after a 48-7 romp over Capistrano Valley.
In the featured game this week, sixth-ranked Servite plays host to Bishop Amat in its Angelus League opener at 7:30 Thursday night in Orange Coast College’s LeBard Stadium.
