National Education Corp. said third-quarter net income was a record $4.3 million, compared to net income of $4.2 million for the same period a year earlier.
The year-ago figure included a $480,000 gain from the sale of property.
The Irvine-based operator of training centers said revenue for the quarter was $72 million, an increase from revenue of $46 million, which the company attributed to its acquisition of Deltak Training Corp. and Coastal Business Colleges, as well as higher revenue from its education centers and independent study operations.
For the nine months, the company reported record net income of $8.8 million on revenue of $175.2 million, compared to net income of $7.9 million on revenue of $135.7 million a year ago.
H. David Bright, president and chief executive officer of the company, said he is “comfortable” with analyst’s estimates of record net income of about $14.8 million for the year, compared to net income of $12.5 million for 1985.
