La Habra 34, Buena Park 0--John Robertson, replacing Matt Schackelford at quarterback, guided the La Habra (2-1, 4-3) offense by throwing four touchdowns in the first half. On the night, Robertson completed 7 of 7 for 85 yards. His four touchdowns went to Mike Dunnuck (9 yards), Sal Maldonado (8 yards), Mike Destiche (4 yards) and Eric Zimmerman (8 yards).
“Robertson’s just a fine athlete and he came in and did a good job,” La Habra coach Bob Rau said. “Schackelford probably could have played but we didn’t want to rush him back. He’ll be 100% next week.”
Running back Jamie Hutcherson scored on a four-yard run early in the third quarter to account for the only second-half points.
“We didn’t get very cute tonight,” Rau said. “We just wanted to play sound, fundamental football and we did.” Overall, the Highlnaders had 289 yards total offense.
Next week, La Habra takes on Sunny Hills in a matchup that could decide the freeway League title.
