Alcala de Rancho Santa Fe, a luxury attached-home development by Davidson Communities, dominated the 1986 San Diego SAM Awards competition by winning the Grand Award and several others in the 12th annual presentation at San Diego’s Town & Country Hotel.
The event, which recognizes excellence in marketing and merchandising of new housing, is sponsored by the Sales & Marketing Council of the Building Industry Assn. of San Diego.
Marc Simmons, vice president of McKellar Development, La Jolla, received the Industry Leader of the Year award. He is credited with bringing the Member of the Institute of Real Estate Marketing (MIRM) seminar series to San Diego.
Simmons and Robert H. Jackson, principal of Jackson & Parent, San Diego, tied for the Marketing Director of the Year award. Chuck Smith, vice president of new home sales for McMillin Realty, San Diego, was honored as Sales Manager of the year.
Nearly 1,000 people attended the program. Twenty judges from around the state took two days to review and check almost 400 entries.
