An Anaheim man was critically injured Monday when his Volkswagen sedan was hit broadside by a driver who allegedly ran a stop sign at the intersection of Michelle Drive and Myford Road, police said.
David Hauser, 27, was turning left Monday morning when his car was hit, pinning him in the vehicle until paramedics could cut him out, Tustin Police Sgt. Mike Shanahan said.
Hauser was taken by helicopter to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where he was treated for a broken neck and major internal injuries. His condition was upgraded from critical to stable condition Monday evening.
No charges have been filed against the other driver, pending further investigation and any change in Hauser’s condition, Shanahan said. Witnesses told police that the driver, in an Oldsmobile Cutlass, had run a stop sign on eastbound Michelle Drive. He was not injured in the collision.
