PREP FOOTBALL : Canyon Country Streak Ended
- Share via
Canyon High School of Canyon Country lost a football game Friday night.
Canyon’s three-year run of 46 victories, and the chance to tie the state record for consecutive victories, died in the arms of Antelope Valley defensive lineman Harold Morrow, who wrapped up Cowboy quarterback Ken Sollom just short of the goal line on a two-point conversion attempt with 16 seconds to play in the game to preserve a thrilling 21-20 victory.
But if it was the defensive line that secured the win for Antelope Valley, it was the great play by the Antelopes’ offensive line and running back Eric Mortensen, who gained 252 yards and a touchdown in 39 carries.
