A Navy enlisted man was sentenced to five years in federal prison for his part in a plot to ship stolen military equipment to Iran. U.S. District Judge Leland Nielsen in San Diego imposed the sentence on Navy Aviation Storekeeper 1st Class Antonia Rodriguez, 39, a former crewman on the carrier Kitty Hawk, who pleaded guilty to four theft and conspiracy charges arising from his breaching the Navy supply system to steal F-14 parts and other military hardware worth more than $750,000 between 1981 and 1983. Rodriguez’s lawyer said the value of the parts was closer to $25,000. Government prosecutors had sought a sentence of at least 15 years.
