Western Digital Corp., the Irvine electronics maker, said it has completed its previously announced acquisition of Paradise Systems Inc. in South San Francisco. Value of the stock-for-stock deal was earlier placed at $33.5 million.
Under the terms of the buy-out, Paradise Systems, which makes electronic parts for personal computers, will continue to operate under its existing management as a wholly owned subsidiary of Western Digital.
With the Paradise acquisition, Western Digital gains an early entry into the rapidly growing market for video controllers, products that allow personal computers to be used to design and display graphic material. Western Digital already makes controllers used by personal computers for data storage and communication.
