Just after San Diego police officers moved to their new downtown headquarters at 14th Street and Broadway, they encountered one of the first crimes in their vicinity--the letters on the Police Department sign outside the station were stolen.
All the letters of the “San Diego Police Department” sign were removed in the past week, police spokesman Bill Robinson said. The plastic letters are about six inches high and were removed gradually throughout the week, he said.
The department will replace the letters, which police said would result in minimal costs.
