Police Stop Car, Find Bomb
A homemade bomb and other explosives were found on the seat of a car stopped by police in Hollywood this morning, forcing bomb squad officers to cordon off busy Western Avenue near Santa Monica Boulevard and nearby streets for two hours.
Bomb squad members moved the device to the sidewalk in the 5500 block of Carlton Way and defused it. Four men and a woman in the car when it was pulled over for a routine traffic stop were taken to Hollywood Division station for questioning, police spokeswoman Margie Reid said. They were not immediately identified.
