ADOLF & THE VEGETARIANS
I was very pleased to read the letters written in response to yet another diatribe against vegetarians by a restaurant critic (Calendar Letters, Dec. 7, in response to Colman Andrews’ Restaurant Notebook, Nov. 31).
The L.A. Times’ feeble reply was to print that Adolf Hitler was also a vegetarian--the customary rebuttal of a guilt-ridden carnivore.
Not only has it never been proven that Hitler was a vegetarian, but it misses the point even if true. The real shocker is not that one vegetarian megalomaniac gave orders to kill millions of people, but that thousands of meat-eaters were so willing to carry out his orders.
