Orange County Community College Basketball : Saddleback Defeats El Camino, 67-64

Vincent Smalls scored 24 points and had 16 rebounds to lead Saddleback College to a 67-64 victory over El Camino in the championship game of the Santa Barbara Tournament.
Tom Desiano added 15 points and Mike Minier had 13 points as the Gauchos improved to 7-3. El Camino, ranked sixth in Southern California, dropped to 8-1.
In other Santa Barbara Tournament action:
Cypress 82, Skyline 80--Down by 16 points with 10 minutes to play, Cypress rallied for the victory in the third-place game of the tournament. Andy Olivarez scored 22 points and Jim Sammon added 16 points to lead the Chargers. Cypress (6-6) meets Trade Tech Wednesday in the first round of the Cypress Tournament.
In the Golden West Tournament:
Cerritos 81, Citrus 78--The Falcons improved to 9-0 Saturday night with an 81-78 victory over the Owls at Golden West College. Ron Fischer led the top-ranked Falcons with 21 points.
Riverside 74, Golden West 63--Pat Beck had 19 points and Anthony Howard added 14 in a losing cause for the Rustlers (2-5). Riverside, led by Mike Stewart with 20 points, is 9-6.
In the San Jose City Tournament:
Orange Coast 74, Diablo Valley 65--Mike Kelly scored 16 points and Rob Mase added 15 points to lead the Pirates to the consolation championship. Kelly was the only Pirate named to the all-tournament team.
Chuck McGavran scored 13 points and grabbed 8 rebounds to help the Pirates’ cause. Diablo Valley led at the half, 37-34. OCC (12-1) meets Grossmont in the first round of the Riverside Tournament Wednesday at Riverside.
In nonconference action:
Rancho Santiago 110, Azusa Pacific JV 70--Six Dons scored in double figures in the victory at Rancho Santiago, led by Mike McConnell with 19 and Chris Jefferson (16). Rancho Santiago is 8-2.
In nonconference women’s action:
Clark College Washington 89, Cypress 64--Cari Wetter and Caralin Bannister each scored 15 points to lead Clark College (7-0) to the victory over the Chargers at Cypress. Stacy Yokota and Ana Gill each scored 14 points for Cypress (6-4).
