Moorpark Wrestlers Place Third in State

Led by All-Americans Keith Hernandez and Ross Boomhower, Moorpark College finished eighth at the state community college wrestling championships at Bakersfield College on Saturday.
Lassen College won the title with 125 points and Diablo Valley finished second with 86 1/2. Moorpark scored 42 1/2 points.
Hernandez (118-pound class) and Boomhower (190) both finished third in their divisions to qualify for the JC All-American teams. The top three finishers in each weight class are awarded the honor.
Hernandez had a 4-1 tournament record and Boomhower had a 5-1 record.
Teammates Ray Esparza (126) and Steve Sueff (142) from Moorpark each finished sixth.
