Pernell Whitaker scored a unanimous decision over Alfredo Layne, a former World Boxing Assn. junior-lightweight champion, in a 10-round lightweight bout Saturday at Norfolk, Va.
The victory was Whitaker’s third since coming back from separate injuries. He suffered a broken foot last November while playing basketball and later broke a bone in his left hand during a victory over John Montes.
Whitaker, who won the gold medal in the 132-pound division at the 1984 Olympic Games, is 11-0 with six knockouts as a pro. Layne is 15-6 with 11 knockouts.
