Childs Leads Surge as UCLA Women Win

Dana Childs, a reserve forward, led a UCLA surge midway through the second half as the Bruin women defeated California, 77-72, Sunday at Berkeley.
Childs, who finished with a career-high 13 points, had 6 of those when the Bruins, trailing 45-44 with 13:32 left to play, made a run to take a 68-57 lead with 5:46 remaining.
UCLA is now 6-4 overall and 1-1 in Pacific 10 play. Cal is 8-2 and 1-1.
Jaime Brown led UCLA with 20 points, while Dora Dome and Sheri Bouldin each scored 12. Cal’s Jennifer Bennett led all scorers with 23.
UCLA plays Notre Dame tonight at 7:30 at Pauley Pavilion.
