Tax Preparers Offering Free Help on W-4 Form
- Share via
New W-4 forms are causing consternation for many employees faced with the prospect of filling out a document that is twice as long as its predecessor. But the task is a necessary one because employees need to make sure that the proper amount of federal tax is withheld from their paychecks to comply with the new tax law.
Some tax preparers are offering free help this month in preparing the W-4 form.
Nelson Manare, H&R; Block’s regional director for the Southern California area, says nearly all of the H&R; Block offices in this area will provide such service free of charge until Jan. 20.
Marcia Coppertino, principal owner of Coppertino & Associates in Inglewood, says her firm will offer free W-4 form preparation until Jan. 31.
Both Coppertino and Manare say no appointments are necessary for the W-4 assistance. Manare recommends bringing a copy of an individual or couple’s 1985 tax return to help prepare the form, however.
