China Jails Seven Spies for Taiwan

PEKING — China has jailed seven people for between one and 15 years for spying for Taiwan in an espionage ring in the southern province of Guangdong, according to an official newspaper received here Friday.
The Yancheng Evening News said one of the seven was a former Communist Party cadre leader and at least two were recruited in Hong Kong to gather intelligence on economic, political and military matters in southern China.
