Oil Worker Killed on Rig Off Seal Beach

A Ventura man was killed in an industrial accident on an oil rig about two miles off Seal Beach, police said Saturday.
The man, whose name was being withheld until relatives could be notified, was 25 years old and was found dead Saturday morning by co-workers on Esther Island, Seal Beach Police Sgt. Jim Gross said.
Police who were transported to the island determined that the man died as the result of an industrial accident. A coroner’s investigation into the death is pending. Gross said police thought that the man had been struck by flying debris on the oil rig.
