Fujitsu and GTE launched a new data venture.

Fujitsu America and GTE Communication Systems formed Fujitsu GTE Business Systems, 80% owned by Fujitsu, to develop and market voice and data communications systems for businesses. Under the agreement, GTE transferred its business systems division, based in Tempe, Ariz., to the new venture and has already begun transferring its manufacturing operations from Illinois to Fujitsu’s plant in Anaheim, where the number of manufacturing personnel has increased from 148 last December to 210. The venture will have 900 employees in all.
