Plane Carrying Gold Makes Crash Landing

NEW YORK — A small twin-engine plane carrying 1,800 pounds of gold from Canada made a belly landing early today at Kennedy Airport, skidding 1,000 feet in a shower of sparks.
Authorities said the the pilot, co-pilot and a Brinks guard aboard the plane were not injured in the wheels-up landing. The gold was quickly transferred to an armored car.
