San Diego Prep Baseball : Coronado Limits Valhalla to One Hit in 9-0 Win

SAN DIEGO — Coronado pitchers Paul Austin and Scott Brovan combined for a one-hit, 9-0 shutout of Valhalla in the opening round of the GMC Tournament. Austin (1-0) pitched five innings for the victory at Valhalla. Lane pitched two hitless innings in relief.
Coronado (1-0) took advantage of nine walks. Alan Lane led Coronado with three hits, including two doubles, and Danny Mosher added three RBIs on two singles.
Brad Denike had a bloop single in the second inning for Valhalla’s (0-1) only hit.
In other GMC Tournament games:
San Diego 12, Southwest 5--Andy Swindall went 2 for 2 with two doubles and three RBIs to lead host San Diego. Pitcher Armando Ramirez (1-0) benefited from a four-run fourth and a three-run fifth to get the victory.
Marian 7, Francis Parker 5--Brannon Hayes hit a three-run homer in the first and Sammy Guevarra added a two-run homer in the fourth to lead host Marian (1-0). Art Hernandez (1-0) got the victory.
Mount Miguel 2, Montgomery 1--Anthony Garnica threw a four-hitter to lead host Mount Miguel (1-0).
Santana 12, El Cajon Valley 4--Richard Sager pitched five innings of relief and allowed just one hit for the victory.
