A second attempt at voting on a contract to end an 18-month strike against Watsonville Canning & Frozen Food Co. is scheduled for this morning in Watsonville. Teamsters Union officials said about 1,000 workers at the firm, which was crippled by the strike and recently reopened as Norcal Foods, had been poised to vote on the new three-year contract late last week but decided at that time to postpone the voting and resume negotiations. Norcal lawyer Peter Radin said the tentative agreement reached March 3 had been “modified” in negotiations which resumed after Friday’s aborted vote. He did not release details, but said the contract had been strengthened in the area of health and welfare benefits.
