Allies Remember Futile Gallipoli Campaign

From Reuters

The last post sounded over this bleak Turkish peninsula Saturday as British and Australian officials marked the anniversary of the Allies’ futile Gallipoli campaign of World War I.

The officials laid wreaths of bay leaves at memorials to thousands killed in the campaign. The 1915 landing came as the Australian and New Zealand armies launched a battle in which at least 46,000 British and Allied soldiers and 87,000 Turks were killed.
