A ground breaking is scheduled Friday for the $45-million, 23-acre Mountain Square at the southeast corner of 8th Street and Mountain Avenue in Upland.
The 280,000-square-foot shopping center on the city’s last large undeveloped parcel fronting the San Bernardino (10) Freeway will be developed by the Los Angeles office of the Rainier Fund of Bellevue, Wash., and the Upland Redevelopment Agency. The architect is McClellan Cruz Gaylord & Associates, Pasadena.
Major tenants will include Vons Pavilions, the Home Depot and Craft Mart. A loan commitment has been made by the Seattle office of Citicorp Real Estate Inc. Completion is scheduled for early next year.
