A Chino man has been arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving after he allegedly caused a three-car collision that sent six people to hospitals for treatment, including a woman and her 6-month-old daughter, police said.
Daniel Anthony McManus, 20, was taken into custody after the 10:15 p.m. accident Saturday, according to Sgt. Randy Bell.
The investigation is continuing, but police said it appears that McManus ran a red light at Moody Street and La Palma Avenue and broadsided a vehicle containing a family of five from La Palma. Betty Miner, 28, and her 6-month-old daughter, Eva, were critically injured and taken to UC Irvine Medical Center, police said, but a hospital spokeswoman said Sunday night that their conditions had been upgraded to fair.
Betty Miner’s husband, Michael Miner, 28, who was driving, and his sons Mark, 3, and Michael, 2, were also taken to UCI Medical Center, where they were treated and released, Bell said.
A third vehicle, which was behind the Miner car, also was involved in the collision, police said. The driver, Andrea Benson, 17, of Cypress, was treated at the scene, and her passenger, Greg Gould, was taken to Humana Hospital-West Anaheim, where he was treated and released, police said.
