FHP International Sees Earnings Increase

FHP International Corp. said net earnings during the third quarter of its fiscal 1987 increased 17% to $2.8 million from $2.4 million a year earlier. Revenues during the three months ended March 31 increased 38% to $94.2 million from $68.3 million in 1986.
The Fountain Valley-based health maintainence organization holding company said nine-month net earnings increased 36% to $8.7 million from $6.4 million in 1986. Revenues increased 42% to $269.7 million from $189.4 million a year earlier.
FHP said its membership during the three months ended March 31 grew 9% to 297,000, with the bulk of that increase taking place in Arizona and New Mexico. One of the nation’s oldest HMOs, FHP also operates in Southern California, Utah and Guam.
