The St. Louis Steamers scored three first-half goals and held off the Lazers in the second half for a 3-2 Major Indoor Soccer League win Thursday night at the Forum.
Former Lazer Poli Garcia gave St. Louis a 1-0 lead in the first quarter, but Lazer Steve Pecher, acquired earlier this season in the Garcia trade, scored 17 seconds into the second quarter to tie the game.
St. Louis (19-32) came back 10 minutes later with goals by Charlie Falzon and John Bain to take a 3-1 lead at halftime.
The Lazers closed to within one goal in the third period on a score by Thompson Usiyan with 10:34 remaining in the third period. But Steamer goalie Slobo Ilijevski shut L.A. out for the final 25 minutes.
The Lazers (15-36) close out the season Saturday at the Forum against the Dallas Sidekicks.
