The City Section volleyball playoffs begin today with six Valley-area teams contending for division titles.
Chatsworth (12-0), which won its seventh straight West Valley League championship and is seeded second behind University, will play host to San Pedro. Taft (8-2), seeded sixth, will travel to Palisades. Kennedy (6-4) travels to play top-seeded University. All games are at 3 p.m.
Chatsworth tuned up for the playoffs with a scrimmage against Santa Monica, one of the best teams in the Southern Section.
“Right now we’re playing really erratic,” Chatsworth Coach Steve Berk said. “We just haven’t been consistent against the better teams. It’s our lack of experience.”
In the 3-A, Granada Hills (11-1) and Reseda (11-1), co-champions of the Mid-Valley League, are in different brackets and could end up meeting for the City title.
Granada Hills, the defending 3-A champion, is top-seeded and will play host to Lincoln. Reseda, seeded third behind Belmont, plays host to Marshall. North Hollywood (8-4), which received an at-large berth, will travel to second-seeded Bell.
