Utah 12th State to Restrict Local Rent Control Laws

Utah has become the 12th state to prohibit local governments to adopt rent control laws without state approval, according to Gerald A. Blonder, president of the National Apartment Assn.
The other states are Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Lousiana, Minnesota, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas and Washington. Indiana prohibits local rent control through a general statue.
Utah is the first state in 1987 to pass the prohibition.
