Amwest Insurance Income Rises 35% in 1st Quarter

Woodland Hills-based Amwest Insurance said net income for the first quarter ended March 31 was up 35% over the same period last year to $594,000, or 30 cents per share. Earned premiums, a financial measure similar to operating revenue, rose 57% to $5.7 million.
Amwest specializes in writing surety bonds for bail bondsmen and contractors, among others.
