Thomas Jefferson Elementary School has been designated a California Distinguished School by state Supt. of Public Instruction Bill Honig.
The award, given to only 240 of the 4,500 elementary schools in the state, is for general excellence of instruction and outstanding improvement on the California Assessment Program, which tests students’ math and language skills.
Principal Jarrett Brunson attributed the increase of about 25% on CAP scores to improvements in teacher in-service training and program expansion.
