Chris McCarron capped a month he said has been like “a dream come true” by riding Ivor’s Image to a two-length victory in the $150,000 Yerba Buena Handicap at Golden Gate Fields in Albany, Calif.
“I only wish the Belmont Stakes was in May, too,” said McCarron, who earlier this month rode to victories in the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Golden Gate Handicap. He will bid for a Triple Crown sweep on Alysheba in next Saturday’s Belmont Stakes in New York.
Ivor’s Image paid $5.00, $3.20 and $2.40. Micenas returned $4.40 and $2.80. Royal Regatta paid $3.00 to show.
